About Us
Jacqui is a member of the NZ Association of Modern Dance and has been dancing for over 30 years. There are classes for all ages with specialised preschool classes.
All children who are involved in Jacqui Murray School of Dance have the opportunity to learn different types of dance in a fun and warm environment.
Exams are held mid-way through the year where the pupils are assessed against the NZAMD standards. These are optional however we do feel the children who take part become better dancers as a result.
Each year the dance school has a Cabaret performance held in November at the Carterton Events Centre. All the pupils are involved and it’s a great end to the year.

Head Teachers
Jacqui
Jacqui has been dancing since she was a child and started the Dance School over 30 years ago. She is a fantastic teacher with wonderful relationships with her students and an amazing ability to fit 40 hours into a 24-hour day! Jacqui teaches the Pre-schoolers, Adult classes and Jazz and Tap classes.
Jasharna
Jacqui taught Jasharna to dance and now employs her as a teacher. Jasharna has a great rapport with all of the students and brings so much to the Dance school. She teaches Hip Hop, Jazz and Tap and continues to come up with fantastic ideas and choreography each year.

Amelia was also a student of Jacqui’s. At the end of her schooling, Amelia studied at Te Auaha Performing Arts School in Wellington. Amelia has several teaching roles in various Dance Schools and we are lucky to have her expertise. Amelia teaches Ballet, Contemporary and Hip Hop.

Courtney has been supporting Jacqui & Jasharna with their classes in Carterton. She has a great understanding of what teaching is all about and the kids love having her around. She will move in to a more solo role in 2025 and have classes of her own.
